The fabled 3D Touch has a few advantages over a simple long-press, a fact not lost on Instagram devs as they incorporated 3D Touch functionality into the latest update. Version 7.13.0 of Instagram lets you long-press on a thumbnail to zoom into an image, drag away to shrink it back down, or release the touch on a button below the photo to perform that action.
