A lot of companies out there will claim that if you root your smartphone, then your warranty is now void. Thanks to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, passed by Congress in 1975, this is not legally possible. However, smartphone OEMs ignore this law and will continue to do so until there is a big lawsuit that makes them change their practices.
