Microsoft has announced they will be dropping support for Skype on a number of platforms start in October of this year. The list includes Windows RT and Mac OS X 10.6, but the big news here is Windows Phone 8 and 8.1. Developer Rudy Huyn says 80% of people using Windows on smartphones still have version 8.1, so this could have a big effect on the platform.
