Two years ago, Google started using its DeepMind machine learning AI to improve the energy efficiency of their data centers. Over the past couple of months, Google has made tremendous progress and was able to reduce the energy used to keep them cool by 40%. The system predicts how hot the data center will be for the next hour, and then adjusts some variables to compensate.
