Ford Teams Up with Toyota to Use Ford-Developed SmartDeviceLink Instead of Android Auto

Ford has announced that it has teamed up with Toyota to use its own developed software to connect to car dashboards. The company has invited other automakers to join them to counter Apple’s CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto in order to control cars of the future. The company will instead adopt SmartDeviceLink (SDL) as the standard for connecting smartphone apps to vehicle dashboard screens.
