Marking International Literacy Day in a digital world |
In 2014, more than 750 million adults lacked basic reading and writing skills, according to the latest available data from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). At the same time, around 260 million primary and secondary school-aged children did not have access to education. The figures show that 49 percent of the world’s illiterate population lives in
