What is ‘triple talaq’ or instant divorce? | India
India’s Supreme Court on Thursday began hearing petitions filed by Muslim women and women’s groups seeking to stop “triple talaq”, or instant divorce, that is practised by some in the Islamic community. Triple talaq is the practice under which a Muslim man can divorce his wife by simply uttering “talaq” three times. It is prevalent among India’s Muslim community who follow the Hanafi Islamic
