London Dungeon is Sorry About What it Did on the Internet

London Dungeon exhibited some of the same social ideals as those once held by a few of its nastier exhibits yesterday, using the cover of Valentine’s day to make some ageing sexist jokes that had everyone rocking back and forwards in horror like an animatronic model of a victim of Jack the Ripper.

Such classics as “What’s the difference between your job and a dead prostitute? Your job still sucks!” were posted by the social media manager on the company’s social feeds, which tried — and failed — to pull off the stunt of an edgy “Dark Valentine” angle. Another joke from the 1970s that fell spectacularly flat was “I love a girl that’s a good eater. Female translation: you’re fat” which has since been deleted along with all of the other misfiring attempts at retro Valentine humour.

It has since said that it is sorry, although it did it using the same graphic format as the original offending posts, so probably isn’t really that sorry. [Guardian]
