Aquarium Trains Animals to Cooperate for Medical Care

The National Aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland, is teaching some of its creatures, like birds and tortoises, to cooperate with veterinary staff on their medical care. Positive reinforcement is used in the training to make it easier and faster to examine the animals and perform procedures. And the animals feel less stressed because they know what to do. VOA’s Deborah Block has more.
