Cheetah Mobile Acquires News Republic for $57 Million

Cheetah Mobile, infamously known for their “scanning” bloatware, has just acquired the news aggregator company, News Republic. You can think of News Republic as a service that’s similar to Flipboard. Over the years, they’ve received $10.3 million in funding from XAnge, Creathor Venture, Intel Capital, but are now wholly owned by the advertising company Cheetah Mobile.
