Initial Acquisition of Opera Fails Regulatory Approval

Earlier this year, a Chinese consortium offered to buy out Opera for $1.2 billion, and the company’s board members approved the offer. Since it did not get complete approval (thanks to the United States), a new deal has been struck. The consortium will now pay $600 million for Opera’s browser business, apps division, licensing business and its stake in the joint venture Horizon.
