The US Federal Communications Commission believes that reducing the amount of time emergency services take to locate you could save 10,000 lives annually. To help improve this on Android devices, Google has launched its Emergency Location Service for Android 2.3+. Google has launched this service in both the UK and Estonia, but only on wireless carriers who have collaborated with Google on it.
