With the release of Android N Developer Preview 5, Google explains some of the changes that are coming to WebView. With Chrome 51 on Android 7.0 and above, applications will use Chrome to provide and render Android System WebViews. If Chrome isn’t installed on the user’s device though, then apps will use WebView just like they do today.
