Viking Horde Malware Found in the Google Play Store

Researchers at Check Point claim they’ve found at least 5 different apps that contain a new type of malware for Android. Dubbed Viking Horde, the app creates a botnet and then uses proxied IP addresses to hide fraudulent ad clicks so it can generate revenue for the attacker. This is all without root access. On rooted devices, the attacker is able to deliver additional malware payloads.
