Android has had its fair share of memory leaks since the introduction of Lollipop and even Marshmallow and Google has worked hard to fix as many as they can identify. One longstanding memory leak was reported on the AOSP Issue Tracker back in November of last year and it seems the March OTA update has patched it up.
