The user guide for Fire OS 5 is revealing some interesting information about encryption. While Apple is going up against the FBI in Congress right now, it seems like Amazon is going in the opposite direction. The user guide says they are deprecating encryption for the Fire HD and Fire HDX 8.9 tablets and even removing device encryption support in Fire OS 5 altogether.
