Russia’s new Internet czar, German Klimenko, has his eyes on American companies like Microsoft, Apple and Google. He’s allied with lawmaker, Andrey Lugovoi, and they’ve proposed a new bill that would apply an 18% VAT tax on revenue these companies bring in from Russia. Klimenko likens the bill to the VAT tax that Europe applies to Google Play purchases and feels Russia should do it too.
