Qualcomm has just announced a new technology they have been developing that enables hi-resolution audio to be played over a wireless connection. They are calling this aptX HD and this audio will be played over a Bluetooth connection. This enhanced codec enables 24-bit music quality compared to what people are used to (16-bit) and this solution is said to produces less distortion as well.
