NY State Bill Proposal Could Ban the Sale of Some Encrypted Smartphones

A New York State bill sponsored by Matthew Titone and co-sponsored by both Walter T. Mosley & Patricia Fahy could ban certain encrypted smartphones within the state of New York. If it passes, smartphones sold in the state will have to be able to be decrypted for accessing data and communications by the OEM or its software provider if requested by law enforcement.
