Windows Phone user Marc aka Coredown felt that WiFi performance on his Lumia 520 was a bit poor. He decided that the best solution to this would be to solder a WiFi Antenna on to the device. Along with this, he also added a CPU fan onto the device to help with thermal throttling. While the mods may not be practical for a lot of us, they are certainly good proof-of-concepts.
