Google X, famous for projects like Project Loon, Google Glass and self-driving cars, now has a new name under Alphabet Inc. Simply called X, the rename also brings with it a refinement with how projects were handled. It will now work as Alphabet’s incubator, taking ambitious projects, taming them into viable businesses and then graduating them into standalone operations. A new group has also created tighter criteria for deciding when to pull the plug on projects.
