After security researchers discovered 13 malicious applications in the Play Store, Google has removed them for violating the ToS. It seems these applications, some of which had been downloaded over a million times, were caught downloading other malicious applications and leaving positive reviews. These applications were also caught requesting root access so they could install malicious code that would let them survive a factory reset.
