AT&T says they want to make our cities smarter, and has just announced an initiative to do just that. Initial cities for this will be Atlanta, Dallas and Chicago, and they want to combine everything from traffic monitoring to managing the electric grid and even gunfire detection into a single ecosystem. AT&T will be partnering with Cisco, Ericsson, GE, IBM, & Qualcomm to pull it off.
