AMD has launched an open source initiative in the form of the GPUOpen Program. Under this initiative, AMD has promised to provide a platform for game and graphic developers to allow them easy access to everything from dev kits to effect libraries. The initiative is divided broadly into two categories: CGI & Games, and Professional Compute.
