Qualcomm has just signed a patent agreement that would allow Xiaomi to use the company’s 3G and 4G technologies in future handsets. This enables Xiaomi to develop, manufacture and sell 3G (WCDMA and CDMA2000) and 4G, including 3-mode (LTE-TDD, TD-SCDMA and GSM), complete devices. It also eliminates the chance of litigation from Qualcomm, which is something they are already dealing with Ericsson in India.
