Community developer support for the Nexus 6P is off and running. We have experimental versions of SuperSU available that don’t touch the /system partition and we recently saw TWRP released for the device too. The first release of TWRP didn’t support decryption of userdata within recovery though but today this has changed. With TWRP version 2.8.7.1, you can now decrypt your user data from within recovery.
