Some were worried about the Nexus 6P’s encryption performance ever since it was revealed that it was going to use ‘software-accelerated encryption’ instead of offloading this to the hardware. This is concerning since last year’s Nexus 6 showed a decrease in performance with encryption enabled. A benchmark comparison between the Nexus 6 and 6P shows significant improvements to AES and SHA-1 with a small decrease for SHA-2.
